Something to say

Hey there! Do you know the feeling of eagerness to share something, but nor being able or feeling comfortable enough to speak up? I felt that in Istanbul sometimes, not on me but on the people who walked those streets... I could notice the looks full of experience, knowledge, secrets, revolution... It really catched my attention. So misterious, so strong.

¡Buenas! ¿Conocéis ese sentimiento incontrolable de ganas de compartir algo, pero no ser capaz o no sentirte cómodo como para hablar?. En Estambul a veces lo sentía, pero no en mí si no en la gente que caminaba aquellas calles... Podía advertir las miradas llenas de experiencia, saber, secretos, revolución... Llamó mucho mi atención. Tan misteriosas, tan cargadas de fuerza.

Aquí un retrato de mi amiga azerí Xanum, Hanim, Janem... lo escribí de mil maneras. Me ayudó mucho a aprender turco y a moverme por sitios interesante de Estambul. Una artista con todas las letras, ella sigue por tierras turcas creando y creando. Hoy es su cumpleaños, ¡felicidades!

Today a portrait of my friend from Azerbaijan Xanum, Hanim, Janem... I wrote it in so many ways. She helped me out a lot to learn Turkish and showing me interesting places of Istanbul. She is an artist with all the letters, she is still in Turkey creating and creating. Today is her birthday, happy birthday!

Cuando viajas en ferry por Estambul, a veces te encuentras con la maravillosa imagen de tener Asia a un lado y Europa al otro. Este es un dibujo rápido de esa vista que no me cansaba de observar.

When taking the ferry in Istanbul, sometimes you find yourself qith the wonderful image of having Asia on one side and Europe on the other. This is a fast drawing of that view I was never tired of.

En el estudio

Aquí pasé muchas horas pintando, dibujando y tomando té turco. El estudio número dos de la universidad de bellas artes Mimar Sinan de Estambul... Una maravilla, hasta teníamos vistas al Bósforo, ¡pintaba con Asia justo en frente de mí!

I spent quite many hours here, painting, drawing and drinking Turkish tea. The studio number two from Mimar Sinan  Fine Arts university... Wonderful, we even had the windows facing the Bosforus, I painted right in front of Asia!

En casa

Una de las cosas importante que hacer cuando te mudas de ciudad es buscar casa. Y yo tuve la suerte de encontrar unos compañeros estupendos con quienes compartir un piso de estudiantes cerca de Taksim. Este dibujo lo hice desde el balconcito de mi cuarto compartido, daba a una pared de las que asomaban unas plantitas que le daban un poco de vida.

One of the must do when moving in to another city is finding a new home. I was lucky to find wonderful roomies to share one with. This drawing was made from the little bancony of my shared room, it was facing a wall which had some plant to bring some life to it.

Sin gatos Estambul no sería la misma

¡Gatos! ¡Gatos por todas partes! Estambul los tiene por todas partes. La gente los adora hasta tal punto que en las tiendas y cafeterías también forman parte de la clientela. A mí me encantan, pero con la alergia que les tengo ¡tenía que ir con mucho cuidado!
Aquí dos "kara kediler", o sea, dos gatos negros. Era imposible no dibujar gatos con tantos alrededor

Cats! Cats everywhere. Istanbul has them all around. People there love them so much that shops and bars have them like if they where clients. I personally love them too, but due to the allergy they cause I had to be very careful!

Today, two "kara kediler", which means two black cats. It was impossible not to draw cats having so many around!

Si hay algo que me fascina de Estambul es que se encuentra entre dos continentes. Me encantaba tomar el ferry de un lado a otro, nunca me había disfrutado tanto el momento de moverme en transporte público.
Aquí un dibujo inspirado por esa sensación tan bonita que crea esta enorme ciudad.

If there is something that fascinates me about Istanbul, it's the fact that it's between two continents. I loved taking the ferry from one side to the other, I never enjoyed so much using public transportation.
Here, a drawing that was inspired by this beautiful feeling Istanbul creates.

Hoy os traigo una de mis creaciones surgidas en el estudio de litografía de la universidad Mimar Sinan, donde pasé una parte considerable de mi tiempo durante el Erasmus. Arriba el boceto a lápiz, tamaño A3. Abajo la litografía terminada, de tamaño 50 x 70 cm².

Espero que os guste, es uno de mis hijos predilectos. Estuvo expuesto, junto con otros tres en una exposición de grabados en la misma universidad turca durante el mes de junio de este año.

I bring you today one of my creations born in the litography studio of Mimar Sinan University. The sketch on the top, made with pencil it is A3 sized. The final piece on the bottom, sized 50 x 70 cm².
I hope you like it, it is one of my favorite children. It was exhibited with other three pieces at the etching exhibition of the uni during June 2014.
